COSMIC MESSAGE
IC 10, an irregular dwarf galaxy, is located about 2.3 million light-years away, hidden behind dust and stars in the Milky Way's plane. Despite the dimming from intervening dust, it shows vigorous star-forming regions with a reddish glow. IC 10 is the closest known starburst galaxy and a member of the Local Group. It has a large population of newly formed stars compared to other Local Group galaxies.
