Another Tail for Comet Garradd

NASA APOD · Olivier Sedan
COSMIC MESSAGE

Comet Garradd is known for its two distinctive tails, visible on opposite sides of its greenish coma. The recognizable dust tail fans out to the right, trailing the comet nucleus in its orbit. A bluish ion tail sweeps to the left, streaming away from the sunward direction. The comet temporarily sprouted a second ion tail in this telescopic view.
