The Cygnus Wall of Star Formation
NASA APOD · Nick Pavelchak
COSMIC MESSAGE
The Cygnus Wall is a star-forming region within the North America Nebula, about 2,500 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus. Hot, young stars in the wall erode and illuminate the surrounding gas and dust. This process creates dramatic shapes and contributes to the nebula's distinct appearance, resembling the Central American and Mexican parts of the continent.
