In the Heart of the Rosette Nebula

NASA APOD · Don Goldman
COSMIC MESSAGE

At the heart of the Rosette Nebula is NGC 2244, an open cluster of stars that formed from the surrounding gas a few million years ago. This image, taken with specific filters for Sulfur, Hydrogen, and Oxygen, shows the central region in detail. A hot wind of particles streams from the cluster stars, contributing to the complex gas and dust.
