OCO-2 Night Launch

NASA APOD · Rick Baldridge
COSMIC MESSAGE

Star trails arc across the night sky above Monterey Bay, California. The long exposure also captured the launch of a Delta II rocket, carrying NASA's OCO-2 spacecraft into orbit. The rocket's trail shows the first five minutes of its flight, seen from 200 miles north of the Vandenberg Air Force Base.
