When Vega is North

NASA APOD · Miguel Claro
COSMIC MESSAGE

In about 12,000 years, Vega will be the North Star, the closest bright star to our planet's North Celestial Pole. Then, long-exposure photographs of the night sky will show star trails centered near Vega as Earth rotates. Currently, Polaris is the bright star near the North Celestial Pole, but this will change as Earth's axis precesses, like a wobbling top.
