At the Limit of Diffraction

NASA APOD · Yuri Beletsky
COSMIC MESSAGE

Even with Earth-based telescopes, adaptive optics can push the limits of what we see. This snapshot shows a view approaching the diffraction limit, where the sharpness is determined by the telescope's size and the wavelength of light. This technology helps overcome atmospheric blurring that affects ground observations.
