Jupiter in 2015

Jupiter's banded cloud tops are always in motion, and the Hubble Space Telescope caught them in 2015. These two global maps, taken 10 hours apart, show the gas giant's atmosphere in detail. They are the first in a series of annual portraits from the Outer Planet Atmospheres Legacy program. By comparing them, astronomers can measure wind speeds and track cloud movements across the planet.
