This telephoto image from Crete spans light-years across the night sky. The May 15 waxing gibbous moon illuminates the church and mountains in the foreground. Above, the globular star cluster Omega Centauri, also known as NGC 5139, shines brightly. This massive cluster is 18,000 light-years away and is impressive even through binoculars.
