The Swirling Core of the Crab Nebula
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
At the heart of the Crab Nebula is a neutron star, the Crab Pulsar, spinning thirty times a second. This Hubble image captures the pulsar, the rightmost of two bright stars, below a central swirl. The three light-year wide view shows glowing gas, cavities, and swirling filaments. The eerie blue light comes from electrons spiraling in a strong magnetic field.
