The Whirlpool Galaxy, M51, is a stunning pair of interacting galaxies. The large galaxy, NGC 5194, has well-defined spiral structure. Its spiral arms and dust lanes sweep in front of its companion galaxy, NGC 5195. This galaxy pair is found in the constellation Canes Venatici.
