NASA APOD · Juan Lozano de Haro
COSMIC MESSAGE

This wide field of view in Andromeda spans about one degree and is rich with galaxies. At the top right is NGC 891, a spiral galaxy 100,000 light-years across, seen almost perfectly edge-on. Located about 30 million light-years away, NGC 891 resembles our own Milky Way, complete with a flattened disk and a central bulge obscured by dark dust clouds. Scattered towards the lower left are numerous more distant galaxies, part of the Abell 347 cluster.
