A Full Sky Aurora Over Norway

NASA APOD · Sebastian Voltmer
COSMIC MESSAGE

An aurora glows across the sky over Norway, a result of energetic electrons and protons striking Earth's atmosphere. Auroras typically occur between 60 and 1000 kilometers in altitude. When viewed from space, a complete aurora forms a circle around one of Earth's magnetic poles.
