Winter Hexagon over Manla Reservoir

NASA APOD · Jeff Dai (TWAN)
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Winter Hexagon is a large, easily found pattern of bright stars in the northern hemisphere's winter sky. These stars, including Aldebaran and Capella, can often be seen even in light-polluted cities. This image captures them over the Manla Reservoir in Tibet, China, under dark skies. This asterism is a useful guide for finding other constellations like Orion.
