The Case of the Missing Star
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Giant star N6946-BH1 was imaged by Hubble a few years ago, but now only a faint glow remains. No bright supernova occurred, though the star did brighten for several months. The leading theory is that this star, about 25 times the mass of our Sun, collapsed directly into a black hole.
