Old Moon in the New Moon's Arms
NASA APOD · Yuri Beletsky
COSMIC MESSAGE
From the Atacama Desert in Chile, the Earth's atmosphere appears in dramatic layers above the Pacific. Here, a young crescent moon shows earthshine, light reflected from the Earth onto the Moon. The sunset colors the western horizon, but the view from the Moon would be stunning as well, showing a nearly full Earth.
