COSMIC MESSAGE
The Large Magellanic Cloud, an alluring sight in southern skies, is captured in this deep telescopic mosaic. The image spans about 5 degrees, or 10 full moons. It was recorded with broadband and narrowband filters, designed to transmit light from hydrogen and oxygen atoms. These atoms are ionized by energetic starlight.
