Halley Dust and Milky Way

COSMIC MESSAGE

Grains of cosmic dust streaked through the mostly moonless night skies of May 7. These were swept up as Earth plowed through debris left behind by Comet Halley. This annual meteor shower is known as the Eta Aquarids. This composite image captures 20 meteors over a two-hour period, registered on a background exposure of the sky. The meteor trails point back to the shower radiant near Eta Aquarii.
