COSMIC MESSAGE
Mars shone brightly in the night sky at the end of last year's northern summer. It attracted the attention of two night skygazers in this skyscape from Big Sur, California. The Milky Way runs through the scene, with its central bulge near the southwestern horizon. A long exposure also reveals faint blue bioluminescence in the waves.
