COSMIC MESSAGE
Brilliant Jupiter shines near the top of this colorful telephoto portrait of the central Milky Way. Spanning about 20 degrees, the scene includes the silhouette of LDN 1773, also known as the Pipe Nebula. The Pipe Nebula gets its name from its apparent outline of a stem and bowl. This dark cloud complex is part of the galaxy's Ophiuchus region.
