The Hyades Star Cluster

NASA APOD · Jose Mtanous
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Hyades is the closest open star cluster to the Sun, bright enough to have been noted thousands of years ago. This deep image brings out vivid star colors and faint nebulas. The brightest star in the field is yellow Aldebaran, the eye of the bull in the constellation Taurus. Aldebaran, 65 light-years away, is not part of the cluster but appears within it.
