Apollo 14 Heads for Home

COSMIC MESSAGE

The crew of Apollo 14 witnessed this Earthrise as they left lunar orbit in February 1971. The Earth's sunlit crescent peeks over the lunar horizon, with cratered terrain of the lunar farside in the foreground. While orbiting the Moon, the crew saw Earth rise and set. However, from their landing site at Fra Mauro Base, Earth would have hung stationary in the sky.
