Zeta Ophiuchi is a runaway star, twenty times more massive than the Sun, plowing through space at 24 kilometers per second. Its strong stellar wind creates an arcing bow shock, compressing and heating the surrounding dust and gas. This infrared image shows the star and its bow wave in false color.
