Trifecta at Twilight

COSMIC MESSAGE

On February 18, the International Space Station, a waning crescent Moon, and Mars were captured together in the twilight sky over northern New Mexico. The photographer planned this single field of view to catch all three. At 6:25 AM local time, the Space Station, orbiting 400 kilometers above Earth, crossed the lunar disk in about one second. It was already bathed in morning sunlight, even as the sky on Earth was just beginning to lighten.
