NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

UGC 12591, shown on the lower left, is the fastest rotating galaxy known, spinning at about 480 km/sec, nearly twice as fast as the Milky Way. Its classification is difficult, showing dark dust lanes like a spiral but a large diffuse bulge like a lenticular galaxy. The mass needed to hold it together is several times that of our Milky Way.
