Lyrid Meteor Streak
NASA APOD · Zolt Levay
COSMIC MESSAGE
The annual Lyrid Meteor Shower occurs as Earth passes through debris from Comet Thatcher. This image captures a meteor streak from vaporizing comet dust. It briefly shared a telephoto field of view with stars and nebulae along the Milky Way. The bright meteor's path passes near Deneb, the alpha star of Cygnus, and the region's dark interstellar clouds.
