NEOWISE of the North

NASA APOD · Bill Peters
COSMIC MESSAGE

Comet NEOWISE remained above the horizon in Goldenrod, Alberta, Canada, after local midnight on July 14. This image captures the comet alongside dancing displays of the northern lights. Both the comet and the aurora are influenced by space weather and the solar wind. This visitor from the Oort cloud is on an orbital path that will not bring it back for thousands of years.
