The Moon, tidally locked to Earth, always shows us the same side. However, images from the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) allow us to create a virtual rotation. This time-lapse video begins with the familiar Earth-facing side. It then reveals features like Mare Orientale, a large crater on the Moon's far side that is usually difficult to see.
