The Great Turkey Nebula

NASA APOD · Eric Coles
COSMIC MESSAGE

The Great Turkey Nebula is a star-forming region, reminiscent of the Orion Nebula, which is about 1,500 light-years away. Stellar winds from clusters of newborn stars scatter the surrounding gas and dust. The Orion Nebula, also known as M42, is visible to the eye as the middle "star" in the sword of Orion the Hunter.
