NGC 6822, also known as Barnard's Galaxy, is a dwarf irregular galaxy in the constellation Sagittarius, 1.5 million light-years away. It is a member of our Local Group of galaxies, similar to the Small Magellanic Cloud. Barnard's Galaxy is about 7,000 light-years across and actively forms stars.
