Equinox on a Spinning Earth

Today marks an equinox on Earth, a time when day and night are most nearly equal. The Earth's terminator, the dividing line between day and night, becomes vertical and connects the North and South Poles. The Meteosat 9 satellite, from geosynchronous orbit, recorded infrared images to demonstrate this. The time-lapse video shows an entire year on Earth in twelve seconds.
