This photograph shows the Milky Way stretching across the sky, appearing to extend the road through Monument Valley. US Route 163 leads towards the iconic buttes on the Navajo National Reservation. The bright band of our galaxy is punctuated by dark dust lanes and colorful glowing gas clouds, including the Lagoon and Trifid Nebulae.
