NASA APOD · Dietmar Hager
COSMIC MESSAGE

NGC 6822, also known as Barnard's Galaxy, is a dwarf irregular galaxy in our Local Group. It's about 1.5 million light-years away in Sagittarius, a much smaller cousin to the Milky Way. Despite its size, it still forms new stars, visible as bright regions within its irregular shape. It reminds us that not all galaxies are grand spirals.
