Comet Leonard and the Whale Galaxy

COSMIC MESSAGE

Comet Leonard, C/2021 A1, was caught between two galaxies on November 24. Its dusty tail appears to "harpoon" the Whale Galaxy, NGC 4631, at the top of the image. The Hockey Stick Galaxy, NGC 4656, is at the bottom. These galaxies are about 25 million light-years away, while the comet was about 6 light-minutes from Earth.
