SN Requiem: A Supernova Seen Three Times So Far

NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE

A distant star exploded, and we saw it three times. Because it was lined up behind a galaxy cluster, its light was bent by gravity, causing multiple images of the same supernova. The Hubble Space Telescope captured these views of AT 2016jka, or "SN Requiem." We are still waiting for a possible fourth appearance of this cosmic event.
