COSMIC MESSAGE
Eta Carinae is a massive star, about 100 times the mass of our Sun, located in the Keyhole Nebula. It is a candidate for a future supernova, though the timing is uncertain. About 170 years ago, Eta Carinae had an unusual outburst, making it one of the brightest stars in the southern sky. This star is also the only one known to naturally emit laser light.
