The Cigar Galaxy, M82, appears to billow red gas and dust. This starburst galaxy was disturbed by a recent close pass with the larger spiral galaxy M81. The red glow comes from a galactic superwind, driven by the combined particle winds of many stars, pushing dust out into space.
