M13, the Great Globular Cluster in Hercules, is one of the brightest globular clusters in the northern sky. It contains hundreds of thousands of stars, all tightly packed into a region about 150 light-years across. This cluster is 25,000 light-years away, and under clear skies, it is visible to the naked eye as a faint patch of light.
