X-Raying the Moon

NASA APOD
MENSAJE CÓSMICO

This X-ray image of the Moon was taken by the ROSAT satellite in 1990. It shows a bright X-ray sky, a bright lunar crescent, and a darker portion of the Moon. The bright crescent is sunlight reflecting off the Moon's surface, while the darker region shows less X-ray emission. This image helps astronomers study the mysterious X-ray background of space.
