Hubble's Constant and The Expanding Universe (II)

Edwin Hubble's work in this century showed us that the Universe is expanding, a discovery that reshaped our understanding of the cosmos. He defined the "Hubble constant," a number that describes the rate of this expansion. It relates how fast galaxies appear to move away from us to their distance. Astronomers are still refining this constant using the Hubble Space Telescope.
