NGC 4314: A Nuclear Starburst Ring
The barred spiral galaxy NGC 4314, billions of years old, has recently undergone a period of intense star formation. A nuclear ring of bright, young stars has evolved in its core over the past few million years. The Hubble Space Telescope image focuses on this inner region, which resembles a miniature spiral galaxy. This phenomenon, called a nuclear starburst, provides insights into galaxy evolution.
