The Rosette Nebula, NGC 2237, is a large emission nebula located 3000 light-years away. While its abundance of hydrogen gas typically gives it a red color, this image highlights light from oxygen and sulfur. Winds from the central star cluster, NGC 2244, have cleared a hole in the nebula's center, ionizing the surrounding gas.
