The Butterfly Nebula from Hubble
The Butterfly Nebula, NGC 6302, is a planetary nebula with a wingspan of over three light-years. Its central star, exceptionally hot at 250,000 degrees Celsius, is hidden by a dense torus of dust. The Hubble Space Telescope captured this detailed image of the nebula, showing the dramatic expulsion of gas from a dying star.
