W5: The Soul of Star Formation
Stars form in energetic regions where gas and dark dust are pushed around in chaotic mayhem, such as W5, the Soul Nebula. This pushes away much surrounding gas and dust, leaving pillars of gas behind dense knots where new stars also form.
