Clouds and the Golden Moon

This telephoto image, taken from Brazil, shows a bright Full Moon rising as the Sun sets. The golden moonlight illuminates clouds drifting across the southern hemisphere sky. The image combines short and long exposures to reveal both lunar surface details and the subtle colors in the backlit clouds. July's Full Moon is a winter moon in the Southern Hemisphere.
