In the 1920s, the Hooker Telescope on Mt. Wilson fundamentally changed our understanding of the universe. Astronomer Edwin Hubble used photographs from this instrument to prove that 'spiral nebulae' were, in fact, distant galaxies. This discovery expanded the cosmos far beyond our own Milky Way.
