Ida and Dactyl: Asteroid and Moon

The Galileo spacecraft, on its way to Jupiter, encountered the asteroid Ida and discovered its tiny moon, Dactyl. Dactyl, about a mile across, appears as a small dot to the right of Ida in this image. This was the first time a moon was found orbiting an asteroid.
