The International Ultraviolet Explorer, or IUE, was a space telescope launched in 1978 for ultraviolet astronomy. It was a collaboration between NASA, ESA, and the British SRC. Though designed for a 3 to 5 year lifespan, IUE operated for over 17 years, making more than 100,000 observations of various cosmic objects.
