The center of 30 Doradus, a star-forming region in the Large Magellanic Cloud, holds a cluster of thousands of hot, blue stars called R136. Some of these stars are fifty times more massive than our Sun. The surrounding gas and dust, mostly ionized hydrogen, glows brightly, illuminated by these massive stars.
