Doomed Star Eta Carinae
NASA APOD
COSMIC MESSAGE
Eta Carinae, a star about 100 times more massive than the Sun, sits in the Keyhole Nebula. It's considered a candidate for a supernova, though we don't know when it will explode. About 150 years ago, it had an outburst that made it one of the brightest stars in the southern sky. This star is unique in that it's the only one known to emit natural LASER light.
